Recipe of the Week: Firecracker Cookies

Firecracker cookies provide a quick and easy treat for any 4th of July event.

If you want something quick, easy and patriotic to bring to your family’s Independence Day get-together, these cookies are perfect.

Firecracker Cookies, adapted from Cookin’ Cowgirl: Makes approximately 30 cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 box French vanilla cake mix, about 18.25 ounces
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup red sprinkles
  • 1/2 cup blue sprinkles

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 
  • Mix together cake mix and baking powder. In a separate bowl, mix together eggs, oil and vanilla. Combine the two mixtures.
  • Stir in both colors of sprinkles. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 10 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool for five minutes before removing from cookie sheet.
  • Enjoy!
