Welcome new Cyclones!

Your adventure at Iowa State begins now! This upcoming year will provide an opportunity for a new beginning. Take advantage of it! For many of you this first year will be the first time you have been away from home. You will meet great, new people and make long-lasting friendships. It is the time you discover who you are and what you’re passionate about.

I found a second home at the Iowa State Daily only a couple weeks into my freshman year. Working as a reporter my first year, I discovered a passion for journalism and have continued to learn invaluable skills from the great editors, advisers and fellow reporters who continue to surround me.

The Daily is one of many great opportunities to get involved at Iowa State. Hundreds of clubs and organizations around campus are always welcoming new members. Find that second home… and maybe a third, fourth or fifth. This is the opportune time in your life to take risks. Cherish the successes you experience and learn from the failures.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions and don’t be afraid to meet new people. You will experience some of the greatest moments in your life during your time at Iowa State. Don’t take a second for granted and don’t let a minute be wasted.
