GSB presidential candidate Daniel Breitbarth states his opinion on the subject of overcrowding. Breitbarth doesn’t believe students should have to move after their first semester in the dorm rooms. The debate took place Feb. 26 in the Multicultural Center of the Memorial Union.

Hello fellow Cyclones!

Welcome to your new home here in the heartland. My name is Dan Breitbarth and I am serving as the current president of the Student Government on campus.

Your years to come at Iowa State are going to be greater than you can imagine, and the opportunities are truly limitless. Throughout all of your triumphs and tribulations, Student Government will be here to serve you and the needs that you require. We truly care about each and every student on campus and are eager to make some positive changes to help you along your way.

Some of our responsibilities include advocating on your behalf to administrators and government officials, providing financial support to many student organizations and organizing various events and showcases on campus.

We care about your experience at Iowa State and want to make it the best that it can be. We also want to know how the adjustment to college life goes for you — the good and the bad. If there is something you wish you would have known before starting college, please share it with Student Government’s director of New Student Outreach, Daniel Gavin, at [email protected].

The one piece of advice that I want to give you all before embarking on this journey is to get involved on campus. Whatever your interests are, you will find others who enjoy similar things, and developing a strong network of students, faculty and community members is invaluable to your success. Growth also happens right outside of the comfort zone, so get out there and try something new!

I’m here to serve you, and so is the rest of the Student Government. Learn more at gsb.iastate.edu or come visit us in the West Student Office Space of the Memorial Union.

My Very Best,

Daniel Breitbarth

President, Student Government
