The final pieces of the ISU men’s basketball coaching staff have been filled.

The team officially announced Monday that Prohm’s assistant coaching staff will consist of T.J. Otzelberger, Daniyal Robinson and William Small. Micah Byers will be the director of operations and Neil Berry will be the special assistant to the head coach.

“I also wanted some people around me that I’ve known for a while, to recruit the South, which is an area that has been very good to us,” Prohm said in a press release sent by Iowa State. “I also wanted to add some people with strong junior college and Midwest ties. It was important to me to have coaches with good character that are going to do things the right way on and off the court.”

Otzelberger and Byers were previously on Hoiberg’s staff. Assistant Cornell Mann will not be retained and fellow assistant, Charlie Henry, will join Fred Hoiberg in Chicago.

Otzelberger spent seven years as an assistant at Iowa State, dating back to the Greg McDermott years before leaving to be an assistant for two years at Washington.

“T.J. has been terrific throughout the process,” Prohm said. “I have talked to every one of his former bosses and everyone gave him glowing reports about the type of assistant that he was. He has a great passion for Iowa State and he understands the kind of player you have to have here to win.”

William Small was an assistant under Prohm at Murray State for four years and Daniyal Robinson was an assistant under McDermott at Iowa State from 2008-2010.

Niel Berry played for Southeastern Louisiana when Prohm was an assistant there. He will be responsible for special projects, analysis for player development and video coordinator.

Micah Byers will continue to coordinate daily operations and administrative functions for Iowa State.
