Ames summer concert series
June 3, 2015
Throughout the summer months in Ames, there are three distinct concert series that start up sometime around early June and end late July or early August before the rush of students head back to campus. The three main concert series are the Ames Municipal Band, Ames on the Half Shell and Roosevelt Summer Sundays. All three start this upcoming weekend, June 4-7.
The Ames Municipal Band will begin its concert series on June 4 at Durham Bandshell Park. Each week the concert begins at 8 p.m. with pre-entertainment beginning at 7 p.m. The concert is free and guests are encouraged to bring their own bug spray and lawn chairs.
Ames on the Half Shell began its concert series on May 29 at Durham Bandshell Park. Admission is $4 for ages 12 and older, with $3/$1 tickets for alcohol/soda. Each week, the concert series accepts free will donations that go toward a different charity. For more information, visit Ames on the Half Shell’s Facebook page.
Roosevelt Summer Sundays concert series begins June 7 and runs through August 9. Performances begin at 7 p.m. in Roosevelt Park and go until 8:30 p.m. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and food if they wish, as concessions are unavailable.
