Each ISU football season brings change, but this year’s change will be unlike any other.

The 40-year-old Jack Trice Stadium will have an all new look and all new feel to it when the Cyclones take the field for their season opener against Northern Iowa on Sept. 5.

The south end zone is experiencing a construction project that began in the summer of 2014 and is on schedule to be completed in time for the season opener against Northern Iowa on Sept. 5. 

The renovated end zone will be renamed the Sukup End Zone Club and feature 3,000 premium outdoor chair-back seats with cup holders, access to a climate-controlled two-level lounge area overlooking the stadium, access to “gameday” themed a-la carte food stations and full-service cash bar (mixed drinks, beer and wine).

“The atmosphere of an enclosed stadium — supported by a huge video board at each end of the stadium — will significantly enhance the game day experience,” said ISU athletic director Jamie Pollard.

The construction in the south end zone will connect the east and west sides of the stadium. 

Stadium capacity will exceed 61,000 upon completion, making it third largest in the Big 12 behind Texas and Oklahoma.

In addition to the 3,000 new seats at the stadium, there will also be a 150 feet x 36 feet new video board.

Season ticket price for seats in the Sukup End Zone Club cost $750. 

“This project has multiple benefits for the institution, the athletics department and the football program,” Pollard said. “There will be a significantly enhanced main entrance to campus, capitalizing on a natural symmetry between Jack Trice Stadium and Reiman Gardens, two university landmarks. Additionally, there will be a dramatically improved game atmosphere with the closed-in end zone.”
