Iowa State falls to Baylor, drops series
April 26, 2015
Iowa State was overpowered by Baylor’s offense in the rubber match of the three-game series that took place in Waco, Texas.
The Bears attacked the Cyclones early in the first when Ari Hawkins got the scoring started with an RBI single that brought home Kaitlyn Thumann. The Bears continued to roll in the opening inning as junior Linsey Hays blasted a three-run home run to give the Bears a 4-0 cushion in the first.
After three innings, the game was halted due to a lighting and rain delay, but Baylor picked up where it left off once the weather subsided.
In the fifth inning, the Bears tacked on two more runs after Hawkins once again brought home Thumann, and freshman Caitlin Charlton drove in sophomore Lindsey Cargill. The game ended with the Bears on top of the Cyclones, 6-0.
Iowa State travels back to Ames to take on Wisconsin-Green Bay in a doubleheader April 29. The first game is slated to start at 2 p.m. and the second is set for 4 p.m.
