Most anticipated summer blockbusters
Summer is hands down the best time for action flicks, sequels and remake, and this year is no exception. In fact, there’s a variety of movies to keep everyone entertained, from the latest superhero installments, to sequels for some of the biggest movies in recent years, and even some horror films for the scary movie buffs like myself.
May: “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” will no doubt be the biggest superhero blockbuster of the summer. The first Avengers installment was a huge hit, and the follow-up looks to be even more epic with additional super-powered characters and a more intense villain. The other action film released in May is “Mad Max: Fury Road.” With A-listers like Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, this bizarrely intense, action-heavy movie could be a hit or miss, but with a great cast, insane visual effects and action sequences, I will definitely be checking it out. Other suggestions: The hotly anticipated “Pitch Perfect 2” or the “Poltergeist” remake
June: The biggest movie I am looking forward to in June is “Jurassic World.” Why, you ask? Well not only were the original Jurassic Park films a staple film series from my childhood, but Chris Pratt is starring in this remake. What more could you want? You have seen Parks and Recreation and Guardians of the Galaxy, right? If that doesn’t float your boat, you could check out “Insidious: Chapter 3.” The first two installments were flat out terrifying, and I expect no less from the third film. What with this movie, the “Poltergeist” remake and a whole slew of horror films due out late summer into fall, scary movie fans should have plenty to keep themselves busy this year. Other suggestions: “Ted 2,” which has potential as a good comedy sequel or “Inside Out,” an animated comedy
July: July is the month of the sequels. I’m really only excited for “Ant-Man” because I love both Marvel and Paul Rudd, and who doesn’t love a good superhero movie? However, “Ant-Man” is going to be eclipsed by the success of Avengers so it might seem a little underwhelming. Included in the list of sequels this month are follow-ups to “Magic Mike,” “Terminator” and “Mission Impossible.”
