ISU women’s track, field scatters strong performances in three weekend meets

Competition from the three-meet, three-day weekend began at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan. for the ISU women’s track and field team. 

Sophomore Maryn Lowry finished second overall in the 800-meter run and was followed closely by redshirt sophomore Madison Nagle, who finished fourth. Redshirt junior Julie Wiemerslage added to the top-10 performances with a seventh-place finish in the 1,500-meter run. 

The Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., and the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge, La. featured a combined five personal records for ISU athletes.

Redshirt senior Katy Moen ran the fifth fastest 5,000-meter outdoor time in ISU history at the Mt. SAC Relays, finishing 12th overall.

Four ISU athletes set personal records at the LSU Alumni Gold meet. Freshman Jhoanmy Luque recorded a career best mark in the long jump, finishing second with a leap of 20-feet, 3.75-inches (6.19 meters). 

Senior Christina Hillman, junior Alyssa Gonzalez and senior Kendra White also recorded personal records in the discus throw, 400-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash, respectively.

Iowa State will only have a few days of rest between competition before competing in the Drake Relays on Wednesday in Des Moines.
