ISU gymnastics traveled to Iowa City on March 6 to take on the Hawkeyes in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. This meet would have clinched the series for Iowa State, but with a close 195.175 to 195.775, the Cyclones fell just short of victory.

Iowa State started the meet off by scoring a 48.925 on their bars rotation. Hilary Green led the team with her score of 9.850, followed by Caitlin Brown with a score of 9.825. Iowa State led Iowa 48.925-48.850 after the first rotation.

The Cyclones then recorded a score of 48.775 on the vault, with freshman Haylee Young leading the team with a score of 9.875. Brown and Kelsey Paz also held high scores for Iowa State, scoring 9.800 and 9.750, respectively. With this, the Cyclones held a team score of 97.700 that came second to Iowa’s 97.975.

The floor rotation was Iowa State’s standout event, with a season high team score of 49.125. Young stuck a career high of 9.900, with Green, Brown, and Paz all recording above a 9.800. Green’s 9.875 surpassed her previous career high. The score was then 146.825-146.775 in favor of Iowa State.

Concluding the meet on the beam, the Cyclones scored a total of 48.350 and Brown scoring a strong 9.900. This was not enough for the team to clinch the win, falling with a total of 195.175-195.775.

The ISU gymnastics team will be concluding their home season against Temple at 6:30 pm on March 13.
