1908:
15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pay, and voting rights.
1909:
The first National Women’s Day was observed on February 28th.
1910:
International Conference of Working Women was held in Copenhagen. The idea of International Women’s Day was proposed with unanimous approval.
1911:
International Women’s Day was honored for the first time in Western Europe. More than one million people attended rallies campaigning for women’s rights.
1918-1999:
International Women’s Day has become a global day of recognition and celebration across all countries
2000 and beyond:
International Women’s Day is an official holiday in 27 countries and has the equivalent status of Mother’s Day in some countries.
