Four small town Washington State residents saved a 22-month-old child from a potentially grizzly fate as they stopped the child’s would-be abduction on March 8.

According to People.com, Isaac Yow, 16, and Andrew Crane, 15, saw two children chasing and screaming after a man who was running off with the toddler. Yow and Crane gave chase.

The man dropped the child and continued his escape. The small boy’s siblings, Brenden, 10, and Delicia, 8, stopped to tend to him while the teens continued their pursuit. The man was not apprehended.

People.com reports that a nearby grocery store security camera caught the incident on tape. The video shows the man running with the toddler in his arms, then Delicia running after him, followed by Brenden.

According to the Johnson City Press, the children were playing in a city park, unsupervised. Allegedly, the man talked with the three children for a couple minutes, then scooped the toddler from his stroller and took off.

People’s article also said that “both boys credit the toddler’s sister with thwarting the would-be kidnapper” as she screamed enough to get the teens’ attention.

The town the failed kidnapping took place in, Sprague, is a “what farming town of about 500 people located 40 miles west of Spokane” in Washington State, according to the Johnson City Press. I don’t think this should be here, but I don’t know where to put it.
