It would not come in wire-to-wire fashion like her previous victory, but Chonlada Chayanun is within striking distance of a second consecutive win after one round at the Miami Hurricane Invitational.

After a one-under-par round of 70, Chayanun is tied for fifth place alongside her freshman teammate, Nattapan Siritrai.

The Thai duo are two shots behind co-leaders Kaitlin Park and Hana Lee of Northwestern.

On the team side of the leaderboard, No. 30 Iowa State stands in third place, six shots behind No. 8 Northwestern and three behind No. 31 Louisville.

Behind Chayanun and Siritrai for Iowa State is junior Cajsa Persson.

Persson is tied for 21st place out of 87 golfers after posting a score of 72.

Freshman Celia Barquin posted a 74 after three bogies on her closing seven holes derailed what was an even-par round.

At three-over-par, Barquin is tied for 30th place.

With a 79, freshman M.J. Kamin is tied for 78th place. Her score was not counted towards team scoring.

The second of three rounds of the Miami Hurricane Invitational are set for March 3 and 4 at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Fla.

In round two, Iowa State will be grouped with Northwestern and Louisville with tee times beginning at 6:30 a.m. CST.
