Prepare for Mom Day: What to buy for her
March 30, 2015
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and it’s time to start picking out a gift or two for her. The May 11 celebration often comes as a surprise to college students, followed by a hasty trip to Bath and Body Works to buy smelly stuff that every mom seems to love. Well not this year. I’m here to prepare you for Mother’s Day with some gift ideas.
Let’s start with the ever-popular Keurig Coffee Maker. By now, it can be safe to assume most women own one of these magical machines, but you can expand on the gift regardless. Getting her a super awesome Contigo traveling coffee mug or some extra K-Cups can be a good idea too.
Gift cards are usually something I stay away from (I mean, come on, you lazy pile, pick out a damn gift) but here it’s just fine in my book. It can be difficult for moms to get out and pick out some new shoes, and many moms don’t take advantage of the comfiness of tennies. Buying her a gift card, and hopefully shopping for her new shoes with her, can make her happy as well as functional.
It might sound weird to say you shopped at Victoria’s Secret for a Mother’s Day present, but there’s so much more to buy there than just panties and lace. Chicks dig VS perfume and lip gloss, so it’s almost always a good gift to give.
This can be a supplementary gift, but a fancy wine bottle opener can always come in handy. You can get her the alcohol, but you also have to make the alcohol accessible.
Nutribullets are God’s gift to man. I recently purchased one and it’s rocked my world since day one. You can make anything from smoothies to shakes to protein stuff to margaritas and daiquiris. It’s simple to use, simple to assemble and simple to wash.
Some moms have trouble spending extra coin on things that can help them out in the long run. This being said, buy your mom a quality cell phone case, or one with a fun design on it.
You can also spoil your mom with an event or experience. Give her movie or concert tickets, a hotel stay, a trip to the spa, some gift certificates to her favorite restaurants or a pedicure/manicure.
Traditional gifts (candles, lotion, a blanket, framed pictures, etc.) can get boring, so try and think outside the box and get your mom something nice.
