Jamie Pollard suffers heart attack

ISU Athletic Director Jamie Pollard is on his way into bypass surgery at Des Moines Methodist Hospital, per his Twitter account.
“Cyclone nation—thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Just going into bypass surgery now. Go Cyclones!” Pollard tweeted.

ISU Athletic Director Jamie Pollard will be transferred from Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa to Des Moines Methodist Hospital for further treatment and observation following a heart attack he suffered on Monday afternoon, per the ISU Athletic Department.
Pollard is scheduled to have open heart surgery later in the week and the transfer to Des Moines Methodist is to allow him to be closer to home in the days leading up to the operation.
“It has been overwhelming to have received so many messages of support,” Pollard said in a press release. “Our family is so appreciative of the uplifting and encouraging thoughts and prayers.”

ISU Athletic Director Jamie Pollard suffered a heart attack Monday afternoon.
Pollard was watching his daughters compete at a track meet on the Northern Iowa campus when he suffered the heart attack, according to a press release from the athletic department. Pollard was taken to Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, by ambulance and was held overnight for treatment and observation.
Pollard remained in the hospital as of 10 a.m. Tuesday.
ISU President Steven Leath appointed Senior Associate Athletics Director David Harris as the acting athletic director.
