Seven ISU wrestlers qualify for NCAA’s
March 11, 2015
The ISU wrestling team will send seven grapplers to St. Louis next weekend, including three with top three seeds.
Earl Hall, Michael Moreno and Kyven Gadson all secured All-American honors last season and all three received top three seeds at their respective weights, including a No. 2 seed for Michael.
At 174 pounds, Tanner Weatherman will be making his third appearance at the national tournament and will try for a third time to land himself on the All-American podium. Weatherman has fallen one match shy each of the past two years of becoming an All-American.
Also returning to the NCAA’s are Gabe Moreno and Lelund Weatherspoon. The next week leading into the tournament will be pivotal for Gabe, who dislocted his left shoulder during his first match of the Big 12 Championship.
True Freshman Dante Rodriguez is the youngest of the seven and is making his first trip to the tournament, qualifying and wrestling unseeded at 141 pounds.
The NCAA Championships begin March 19 in St. Louis.
