Day of Dairy Schedule of Events
9:30-11:00 a.m. – MacKay 119
This class focuses on successfully presenting food
science and nutrition issues in the public arena. Two
recent examples from the dairy industry include flavored
milk in schools and the need for both organic and
conventional dairy production.
11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – 2312 Food Sciences Building
Dairy industry examples of both the intended and
unexpected outcomes that occur when issues
related to global food systems, nutrition, policy and
consumer behavior collide will be discussed.
1 p.m.-2 p.m. – Webinar for Registered Dietitian Interns
To help counsel their clients and advise their
organizations, interns will participate in a “Dairy
Myths and Facts” webinar.
2-3:30 p.m. – Kildee 107
Throughout the time span of today’s students’
careers, the dairy industry will need to provide for
another 2 billion consumers. How to do this with a
focus on sustainability will be the focus of this class.
Evening Event – Dairy Makes Sense Farm Tour and Trivia Night – Dairy Farm
Late Afternoon Session: 3:45-5:45 p.m.
Early Evening Session: 5:15-7:15 p.m.
Students will tour the Dairy Farm, play dairy trivia and enjoy a pizza dinner. Students will meet and be dropped off in front of the Memorial Union. Transportation will be provided.
Attendance is limited to 30 students per session.
