Free throws decide Iowa State’s fate at Texas
February 22, 2015
Iowa State plays with an eight-man rotation almost exclusively. Since conference play began 14 games ago, Iowa State is shooting 65.4 percent from the stripe as a team. These are the free-throw percentages for the frequently used Cyclones in Big 12 games.
Abdel Nader- 77.8 percent
Monté Morris- 75.8 percent
Naz Long- 70.8 percent
Georges Niang- 67.4 percent
Bryce Dejean-Jones- 66.7 percent
Matt Thomas- 66.7 percent
Jameel McKay- 60.5 percent
Dustin Hogue- 55.8 percent
Upon further inspection, it is less surprising that Texas would try to utilize a “hack-a-Cyclone” strategy as only two Cyclones have shot better than 71 percent from the line in Big 12 play.
