No Grammy, no problem for T-Swift

Even after winning no awards at the Grammy Awards, which was held Sunday night, Taylor Swift still has another accomplishment to make note of. For the 11th week, her latest album, “1989,” has been the number one album on the Billboard albums chart.

This is no new accomplishment for Swift. Swift’s second album, “Fearless,” stayed at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard chart for 11 weeks as well. That album featured hit songs such as “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me.”

According to a report from USA Today, there are only four albums to have stayed at the No. 1 spot for more than 10 weeks, two of them being by Taylor Swift. Those four albums are “1989” and “Fearless,” both by Taylor Swift, “21” by Adele and the soundtrack from the hit animated film “Frozen.”

Swift’s latest album, “1989,” features hit songs such as “Blank Space” and “Shake It Off.” USA Today also reported that “1989” sold 77,000 copies last week and that it sold over 308,000 downloads. These statistics that show such successful sales, even when it was released back in October, show that even though Swift may not have won a Grammy this year, she still has a lot going for her. Not to mention that her new world tour called “The 1898 World Tour” will start later this month.

At only 25 years of age, Swift has won seven Grammy Awards and is the best-selling digital artist of all time. Well known for her very catchy tunes and strong personal lyrics, she is by far one of the most successful artists of our generation.
