WBB: ISU, OK State preview at a glance
February 13, 2015
Last time
The last time these two teams met up, the Cyclones watched Brittney Martin drill a fadeaway jumper off of an inbounds pass with just one second, deciding the game in favor of the Cowgirls. Oklahoma State’s 63-62 win was Iowa State’s second loss during a three-game losing streak at that time.
Conference outlook
Despite a rough stretch in which the Cyclones have lost four of their last five conference games, they still sit in third place in the conference standings.
Baylor has dominated the entire Big 12 en route to a 12-0 conference record, while Oklahoma has established itself as the clear runner-up with a conference record of 9-3.
Aside from that, the rest of the Big 12 is pretty mashed up. The Cyclones enter tied for third with a 6-6 conference record.
The next three teams, including Oklahoma State, in the standings are tied with a 5-7 conference record and the final three teams are tied with a 4-8 record.
What to watch for
Bryanna Fernstrom flat out carried the Cyclones in the first game against the Cowgirls. The freshman scored Iowa State’s first 13 points of the game and had 19 first-half points before finishing with 23 total points.
Nikki Moody was also able to find success on the offensive end as she dropped 17 points and eight dimes in the losing effort.
