Cyclones finish seventh at Big 12 Indoor Championship

The ISU women’s track and field team finished seventh in the Big 12 Indoor Championship on Feb. 28.

The two-day event featured a number of young and experienced runners scoring points and setting personal records for the Cyclones.

Day one witnessed personal records from sophomore Heidi Engelhardt in the 1 mile prelims, junior Kaci Storm in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, junior Alyssa Gonzalez in the 600-yard run, freshman Evelyne Guay in the 1,000-meter run and redshirt freshman Erin Hooker in the 5,000-meter run. 

ISU runners took four of the top five spots in the 5,000-meter run, adding key points to the team’s overall count. 

Iowa State set another six personal records during day two of the event, which all were set in the 3,000-meter run. 

Next for the Cyclones is a wait to see if any times hold up for the NCAA Championships, which will take place in Fayetteville, Ark. on Mar. 13 and 14.
