Kanye West x Adidas collaboration unveiled
February 10, 2015
Yeezy season is approaching — suspense continues to build after it was recently announced that the Kanye West and Adidas collaboration would be revealed during New York Fashion Week.
After months of waiting, it appears that the highly anticipated Adidas partnership with rapper Kanye West will be releasing soon. Last week was a whirlwind of news and speculation regarding the upcoming collaboration.
It all began when Adidas announced the release of its new app, Confirmed, which is designed to simplify the reservation process for sneaker enthusiasts looking to purchase a pair of the hyped shoes. Then there was the launch of Yeezy.supply, a website which appears to act as a countdown to the unveiling. Kanye has tweeted links to the website, which features a running timer set to go off at 4 p.m. EST Feb. 12. Finally, Adidas created a newsletter that gives subscribers the opportunity to be the first to obtain details regarding the collaboration.
Complex.com confirmed that Kanye would be showing the line Feb. 12 during New York Fashion Week, while the Confirmed Adidas app implies the physical release might be looming.
In anticipation for the release, photos of the first sneaker have been revealed on Instagram by Kanye’s longtime friend and barber Ibn Jasper. Labeled as the Adidas Yeezy 750 Boost, the high-top sneaker sports a signature Adidas Boost outsole and light sand suede upper. The shoe also features a mid-foot strap, similar to Kanye’s Nike Air Yeezy collaboration. However, that is where the likeness ends. The rapper seems to have chosen a more high-fashion minimalistic look in comparison to the more athletic style of his Nike sneakers.
People got their first glimpse of Kanye wearing his signature Adidas sneaker this weekend while attending the Roc Nation annual Pre-Grammy brunch. He was then seen wearing them during his performance at the 57th annual Grammy Awards.
It has been rumored that there will be a second colorway of the Yeezy 750 Boost in solar red alongside the sand suede one. This tonal red color scheme has become a sneaker trend ever since the release of the “Red October” Nike Air Yeezy 2. A red colorway would definitely help gain hype surrounding the musician’s new Adidas line. Prices for the Yeezy 750 Boost are expected to be around $250.
After months of anticipation, it is becoming increasingly clear that the world will eventually see the release of the new Kanye West x Adidas sneakers. Now all that’s left is to wait for an official release date to be announced.
