Get to know Ames’ sister city, Koshu, Japan.
- Koshu has a population of 33,220
- Koshu is the home of the Koshu Fruit Marathon, a series of races from 3.5 km to 23 km.
- Koshu is in fact named after the Koshu grape, which is grown in the shadow of Mount Fuji and used to make wine.
- Teikyo-Gakuen Junior College is located in Koshu
- Koshu has three other sister cities: Futtsu, Japan; Beaune, France; and Turpan, China.
- The modern city of Kōshū was established Nov. 1, 2005, from the merger of the city of Enzan, the town of Katsunuma, and the village of Yamato.
- Koshu is a little more than 60 miles from Mount Fuji.
