ISU tennis falls to Minnesota

The losing streak extends to three after a 4-1 loss against Minnesota on Feb. 27. The one win came from senior Meghan Cassens in the number three spot.

Coach Armando Espinosa switched the doubles lineup and paired junior Alejandra Galvis and Cassens together and senior Caroline Andersen and sophomore Natalie Phippen as a pairing.

These new pairings held on to make it a close game, but Minnesota came out on top to earn the doubles point.

The biggest concern entering the long weekend was the health of the players. Sophomore Samantha Budai suffered an ankle injury during her singles match.

Her status for her next match is probable but it depends on her night. With this injury in mind, the team could see freshman Anna Garcia or Liera Bender play for the first time this season.

The ISU tennis team takes on a 7-2 Marquette team at 10 a.m. Feb. 28 in Minnesota.
