Iowa State’s bench celebrates after sinking a 3-pointer against West Virginia on Feb. 14. Iowa State is now 61-4 at Hilton Coliseum during the past four seasons, with a 21-game winning streak.

1. Kansas (21-5, 10-3 Big 12) [No change [—] from last week]

Maybe it’s the depth of the Big 12, maybe it’s the most beatable KU team in the past few years, but whatever it is, Kansas just can’t pull away in the Big 12 race enough to feel comfortable. Make no mistake — Kansas is still heavily favored to win the league, but Iowa State can make things interesting with a few road upsets.

2. Iowa State (18-6, 8-4 Big 12) [+1]

Bob Huggins and the West Virginia Mountaineers can be expecting a “thank you” letter from Fred Hoiberg in the next few days. After dominating the Mountaineers by 20 points, West Virginia turned right around and upset Kansas two days later to give Iowa State a glimmer of hope in the Big 12 race with the final stretch ahead.

3. Oklahoma (18-8, 9-5 Big 12) [-1]

The Sooners seemed to be in the best position to battle Kansas for the Big 12 title after beating Iowa State at home, but were rudely awoken by Kansas State, getting upset on the road. While they picked up a good win against Texas at home, they still still have to face Iowa State on the road and Kansas at home in the battle for second place.

4. West Virginia (18-5, 6-4 Big 12) [+2]

Kansas met “Press Virginia” for the first time this season and found out why they are one of the toughest teams to beat in the Big 12. The Mountaineers’ star player, Juwan Staten, made a spinning game-winning layup that gave West Virginia a shot of momentum after an ugly 20-point loss to Iowa State.

5. Oklahoma State (17-8, 7-6 Big 12) [-1]

Much like Iowa State on the road against Texas Tech earlier in the season, Oklahoma State got caught in a classic hangover game after upsetting Kansas and Baylor in back-to-back games. The 15-point loss to Texas Christian knocks them down a spot from last week, although they have opportunities to redeem themselves with back-to-back games against ranked Iowa State and West Virginia teams.

6. Baylor (19-7, 7-6 Big 12) [-1]

The Bears had about the most unexciting week of any Big 12 team, falling to Kansas on the road, as all other Big 12 teams have this season, and pulling out a close win against Texas Tech. The good news is the schedule heats up a bit with Kansas State, Iowa State and West Virginia up next.

7. Texas (17-9, 6-7 Big 12) [—]

Texas pulled off back-to-back wins against the Big 12’s bottom feeders, but couldn’t pull off the upset of Oklahoma on the road, dropping the Longhorns below .500 again. The season was certainly already disappointing in Texas, but after leading for much of the game in Norman, this one stings a little more.

8. Kansas State (13-13, 6-7 Big 12) [—]

As was said in last week’s power rankings, Kansas State is a different team when Marcus Foster is on the floor. After going 0-3 during his 3-game suspension, Foster hit the game-winning shot in an upset of then-No. 17 Oklahoma to give the Wildcats some hope heading into the final stretch of games.

9. Texas Christian (15-10, 2-10 Big 12) [—]

Texas Christian picked up its best win of the season with a dominating 70-55 win against then-No. 21 Oklahoma State, but the Horned Frogs haven’t picked up enough upsets to get too excited about the team’s performance this season after some raised expectations at the end of last season.

10. Texas Tech (12-15, 2-12 Big 12) [—]

The Red Raiders gave Baylor a bit of a scare, but the only game left on the schedule with much hope for a win is against TCU — a team that beat them by 20 earlier this season.
