133: No. 4 Earl Hall
Hall lost his first match of 2015 this past Sunday against No. 7 Ryan Taylor in close 4-3 bout. While the loss doesn’t necessarily bode well for Hall, it doesn’t hurt his NCAA stock either. Looking toward the Big 12 Championships, Hall has already defeated his three opponents, but will be challenged by Oklahoma’s Cody Brewer.
149: No. 12 Gabe Moreno
Gabe scored his 25th win of the season Feb. 22. Like Hall, Gabe has bested all three other Big 12 opponents, but will undoubtedly be challenged by Oklahoma State’s Josh Kindig, who did not make the trip to Ames earlier this season.
165: No. 2 Michael Moreno
Mike recorded arguably his biggest win of the season against Wisconsin when he pinned No. 2 Isaac Jordan in the second period. The pin against Jordan will go far where his NCAA seed is concerned, but Oklahoma State’s Alex Dieringer still stands in his way.
174: No. 12 Tanner Weatherman
Weatherman appears to be back on track. He’s won four in a row, including a fall against Wisconsin. Weatherman will have his eyes set on the All-American podium, which has narrowly eluded him in the past two seasons.
184: No. 18 Lelund Weatherspoon
Weatherspoon lost his second match of 2015 against Wisconsin, but looks poised to take home another Big 12 Championship. Weatherspoon put his name on the map at last year’s Big 12 Championship, as he took home the 184-pound title.
197: No. 2 Kyven Gadson
Gadson again proved why he’s one of the best in the nation against Wisconsin, when he pinned Timmy McCall, who has been ranked as high as No. 8. It seems like Gadson should breeze through his two matches at the Big 12 tournament, but nothing is ever set in stone.
Just outside: Dante Rodriguez
Rodriguez is ranked by a few publications, but not by Intermat. Rodriguez has proved to be one of the more thrilling wrestlers on the team, as the 141-pounder scored a pin against Wisconsin’s Jesse Thielke, a former greco-roman world team member.
