Bears on the boards
February 25, 2015
Baylor has been a bear on the boards this season, grabbing 40.5 rebounds per game throughout the course of the entire season. Baylor trails Texas by only 0.3 rebounds per contest for the mantle of the best boarding team in the conference and currently stands as the fifth most adept rebounding squad in the nation.
Rico Gathers leads the team with 12.1 rebounds per outing, while Royce O’Neale, Johnathan Motley and Taurean Prince combine for 15.9 boards per game.
Redshirt transfer Jameel McKay was unable to slow the Bears down on the glass in the teams’ initial meeting on Jan. 14, when Baylor nabbed 44 rebounds, including 19 off of the offensive glass. McKay will need help as Iowa State will require a total team effort to limit the interior prowess of Baylor.
