Two crashes that involved vehicles hitting utility poles near Mary Greeley Medical Center resulted in a power outage. 

According to the City of Ames Twitter page, the crashes were almost simultaneous and caused “a brief power surge in the power line that caused the backup generators to kick on at the hospital.”

Electric crews are repairing the damage.
