Cyclones beat Kansas State 79-59, sweep Wildcats on season

The Lowdown

Iowa State (12-4, 3-2 Big 12) traveled down to Manhattan, Kansas looking to sweep the Wildcats in the season series. What the Cyclones came away with was nothing short of their goal.

Iowa State defeated Kansas State (11-5, 1-4 Big 12) 79-59 on Jan. 17.

After starting out the game just 1-of-9 from behind the arc, the Cyclones were able to find their groove. Emily Durr and Kidd Blaskowsky combined for three three-point plays leading up to halftime to give the Cyclones a two point lead heading into the half.

The Cyclones finished the game with 14 three-pointers, shooting over 50 percent from the floor. They were able to break away from the Wildcats in the second half, giving them the season sweep.

X-Factor

Once again, senior guard Nikki Moody came to play. The senior finished with 20 points, 12 assists and six rebounds on the night.

Up Next

The Cyclones have a few days off, something they haven’t seen in a while. They will, however, retake the court Jan. 21, when they host TCU at Hilton Coliseum. TCU won the first matchup of the season, rallying back from a 20-point deficit in the second half. The rematch on Jan.21 will tip at 7 p.m.
