January 16, 2015
Pride was unfortunately stronger than the outcome for ISU swimming and diving.
The Fighting Illini of Illinois closed out the ISU swimming and diving team 168-132 at ARC Pool in Champaign, Ill.
Senior Sarah Deis contributed heavily to the Cyclones with two second-place finishes as well as a third place finish.
ISU swept the 100-yard breaststroke event behind freshman Kasey Roberts, who is having a tremendous freshman campaign.
Amanda Paulson and Savanna Townsend also continued their success in short distance freestyle, finishing one and two in the 50-free. Paulson also took the 100-free, capturing two victories on the day.
Karyl Clarete was strong in the long distance events and Marissa Engel performed well in her backstroke events as well.
The Cyclones were unable to finish strong on the road at Illinois.
The ISU swimming and diving team returns to Beyer Hall to face Northern Iowa on Jan. 23. This will be the Cyclones first home meet since Oct. 31.
