ISU Theatre auditions for spring productions

Auditions for three ISU Theatre productions, Two Rooms, Les Misérables and On the Verge, will be held the first week of classes beginning Jan. 12, 2015.
Those auditioning must sign up for a time slot for an audition, and pick up audition materials before winter break, in 2130 Pearson Hall.
Two Rooms – 7:30 p.m. on March 26, 27 and 28 and 2 p.m. March 29
Location: 2140 Pearson Hall
Tickets: Adults – $6 Students – $4
An American teacher, Michael Wells, is held hostage by Arab terrorists in Beirut, Lebanon in a windowless cubicle. His wife, Lainie Wells, clears out another room in their home so she can live as she thinks her husband is living. In the mean time, Lainie works with an employee from the U.S. Department of State and brings further attention to her case when she talks to a reporter. In these two rooms both Lainie and her husband hold imaginary conversations with each other as Lainie fights to bring her husband home.
Those auditioning must memorize one of the monologues or scenes from the play that are provided. Auditions will be held at 9:30 p.m. until midnight on Jan. 12 and from 7 p.m. until midnight Jan. 13 in Music Hall. Callbacks are January 14. There are roles for two men and two women available, and rehearsal for the play begins Tuesday, Feb. 3. For more information, contact Kivan Kirk at [email protected].

Les Miserables – 7:30 p.m. on April 10, 11, 17 and 18 and 2 p.m. on April 12 and 19.

Tickets: Adults and seniors – $24 Students: $16
Les Miserables the musical has been around since 1980, performed globally and in many different languages since its first show. Adapted from the book written by French author Victor Hugo in 1862, the musical takes place in 19th-century France. Jean Valjean goes to prison for 19 years for stealing bread to feed his sister’s starving child. After Valjean is paroled from prison, he tries to start his life over again.
Those auditioning must prepare one to two minutes of a song from the play from the choices provided. There are roles for 20-25 men and 20-25 women. Auditions are from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Jan. 12 and from 6:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Jan. 13 in Music Hall. Callbacks for the production are Jan. 14 and rehearsal Jan. 27. Tickets went on sale on September, 15 and are available through the Iowa State Center Ticket Office or through TicketMaster. Tickets are also available at the door before the performance in Fisher Theater. Advance purchase is suggested.
On the Verge – 7:30 p.m. on April 30, May 1 and 2 and 2 p.m. on May 3.

Tickets: Adults – $18 Seniors – $16 Students – $11
Three victorian explorers, Fanny, Mary and Alex, travel through time and meet varied characters on their journey. All of the diverse characters are played by one actor.
Those auditioning should prepare a monologue from the choices provided from the play. There are roles available for three women, for characters Fanny, Mary and Alex, and one man, who will play multiple roles throughout the play. Auditions will be held from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Jan. 12 and Jan. 13 in Music Hall. Callbacks are Jan. 14. Rehearsals begin on March 9.
