After being criticized for little effort to stop racism incidents from occurring in the World Cup in Brazil, FIFA is planning to take a much stronger approach towards anti-racism, most recently in the qualifying matches for the next World Cup in Russia.

USA Today reported that FIFA is going to appoint anti-discrimination officers who will work at World Cup qualifying games to help keep racism incidents from occurring.

Throughout the World Cup over the summer there were many chants and signs that were discriminatory towards members of different teams and many of these incidents were not sanctioned by FIFA.

The next World Cup is being hosted in Russia and FIFA has announced their pledge to put forth a much larger effort to help prevent racism at the matches.

USA Today reported that in Russia there is lots of racism involved at matches and therefore there is a great emphasis on preventing that from occurring in Russia 2018 when it hosts the World Cup.
