The Lowdown

The ISU women’s basketball team fell 76-67 to the No. 24 Iowa Hawkeyes on Dec. 11 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Iowa (8-2, 0-0 Big 12) opened the game with a three-pointer from Ally Disterhoft, which gave the Hawkeyes control they would seldom relinquish throughout the contest.

The Cyclones (5-2, 0-0 Big 12) were led by Jadda Buckley’s 25 points, but poor overall shooting doomed Iowa State. Though the Cyclones hung around for most of the game, they shot just 21-of-57 for the night, making it difficult to string together a serious run to claim a late lead.

X-Factor

Momentum plays: Iowa State played from behind almost the entire game, but was within striking distance the whole way. Seemingly every time the Cyclones hit a shot to come within a couple possessions, however, the Hawkeyes would counter it with a three-pointer or hard drive to the lane to make a tough, momentum-countering shot.

By the Numbers

20: The Cyclones led the game for just 20 seconds, while the Hawkeyes had the upper hand for 38 minutes and 23 seconds.

36.8: Iowa State shot just 36.8 percent, making only 21-of-57 attempts.

23Minutes played by ISU floor general Nikki Moody. Moody picked up her first foul 11 seconds into the game and struggled to stay out of foul trouble the rest of the way.

8: The Cyclones, who entered the game at fifth in the nation in assists per game, totaled just eight dimes on the night, well below their season average of 19.7.
