Recipe: Christmas cookies
December 11, 2014
IT’S ALMOST CHRISTMAS! Now that we have that out of our system let’s get down to business (Disney pun intended). Cookies are a major part of the Christmas Season; even holiday candles are cookie-scented. This is a perfect roommate bonding experience or you can have the best study break night ever and have a cookie party with your friends!
All you need:
Sugar cookie mix (either premade dough or partially pre-made)
Powdered sugar
Milk
Food coloring
Ziploc bags
Sprinkles
Candy Canes
Cookie Cutters
Instructions:
Make the cookie dough, or roll out the premade dough, and flatten it with a rolling pin, if you don’t have a rolling pin use a smooth round thing (I used a water bottle, a soda can would work as well). Use the cookie cutters and do your thing. Bake according to the instructions on the dough.
While those are baking, make the frosting by putting powdered sugar and milk in a bowl. You only need a small splash of milk but if you put in too much, like I did, then keep adding powdered sugar until it is thick enough that it is slow to melt back into the bowl of frosting when drizzled. Once it is to your desired thickness add in the food coloring–red and green are great for Christmas.
Decorating those cookies is all that is left to do. This is where the party would come in, decorate and have fun with it!
