After the first five of 12 athletic events in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series, the Iowa State Cyclones have built a commanding 11-0 lead on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams finished ahead of Iowa at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 14. The ISU men’s No. 3 finish topped Iowa’s No. 7 finish, and the ISU women’s No. 1 finish bested the field, as well as Iowa’s No. 13 finish.

The Cyclones started their streak with a 2-1 win against the Iowa soccer team, the first win over their in-state rival since 2005, putting them up 2-0 in the series.

After falling behind 14-3 in the second half, the ISU football team came back to win a thriller, defeating Iowa 20-17 on Cole Netten’s game-winning field goal with only two seconds remaining.

After sweeping the Hawkeyes in three sets in volleyball, the Cyclones led the series 7-0.

The next event in the series will be on Nov. 29 when the ISU wrestling team travels to Iowa City.
