ISU women’s cross country improves in Andrea Grove-McDonough’s second year as coach

The ISU women’s cross country team finished the 2013 season ranked 13th. They end the 2014 season ranked second.

Improvement was noticeable out of the gate for the Cyclones this season. Iowa State finished second in its first big invitational of the season, a meet where they finished fifth a year ago.

At this year’s Wisconsin Invitational, Iowa State finished third. The team finished fifth at the 2013 event.

For the second consecutive season, Iowa State claimed the Big 12 and Midwest Regional titles. This year the team placed four runners inside the top-10 at the Big 12 meet and four inside the top-10 at the Regional.

The team’s biggest improvement came at the NCAA Championships, where the Cyclones tied their second-best performance in school history, placing second overall.
