The lowdown

Iowa State took down NAIA Viterbo 115-48 in the team’s only public exhibition game of the season. The Cyclones outscored the V-Hawks 60-22 in the second half to pull away for the 67-point win.

Bryce-Dejean Jones, Naz Long, Georges Niang, Sherron Dorsey-Walker, Kourtlin Jackson and Daniel Edozie all scored in double figures with 13, 17, 12, 17, 10 and 14 points, respectively.

Edozie finished with a double double, also grabbing 11 rebounds. Despite only shooting 50 percent under the basket against a vastly-oversized Viterbo team, Edozie brought the crowd to its feet on multiple dunks.

The Cyclones fed off Viterbo’s 22 turnovers, scoring 37 points and using wide open court to put on a show that looked like a dunk contest, at times.

Turning point

This game was close for all of two minutes. Tied 5-5, Dustin Hogue scored under the hoop to lead a 15-0 run over the next five minutes to pull away and the Cyclones never looking back.

Iowa State went on to hit eight three-pointers in the first half and had a comfortable 55-26 lead going into the locker room.

The X-Factor

Bryce Dejean-Jones made his ISU debut with flashy play, showing off what he could do in transition with three dunks off steals. He finished with six rebounds and missed only one shot on the night.
