ISU freshman center Bryanna Fernstrom has been named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Fernstrom scored 25 points in the team’s season opening win over USC Upstate on Nov. 16. Fernstrom scored 12 of Iowa State’s first 14 points in the game Sunday, leading the Cyclones to a 98-76 victory.

The Minnesota native’s performance was enough to break the ISU freshman record for most points in a career debut as well, and was the second highest output of any Big 12 player this week.

The Cyclones will take the court next on Nov. 18 when they host Drake at 7 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum.
