Changing forecast for Ames

Rain, snow and freezing drizzle could be on the horizon.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 20 percent chance of snow before 7 a.m. today, and it will be mostly cloudy. Temperatures throughout the day will be around 30 degrees with the wind chill as low as 10 degrees.
Winds will come from the north at 16 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Temperatures Tuesday night will be around 14 degrees.
The cold trend will last for the next week.
Much of the northern states in the Midwest, such as Minnesota, have already experienced heavy snow fall. Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories are in effect for much of the region.
