Graphic Designer Job Purpose:
Prepares visual presentations by designing art and copy layouts for advertisements as well as special projects as they arise for the advertising department the Iowa State Daily Media Group.
Graphic Designer Job Duties:
- Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials.
- Plans concept by studying information and materials.
- Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
- Completes projects by coordinating with advertising representatives, advertising clients, outside agencies, art services, printers, advertising department, etc.
- Contributes to team effort by participating in brainstorming sessions, attending team meetings, articulating new ideas, and taking leading on available projects and advertising campaigns from start to finish
Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suits software
- InDesign
- Illustrator
- Photoshop
- Strong understanding of the following:
- Design Principles
- Typography
- Color
- Grid Structure
- Not required but preferred ability to copy write for advertisements
- Customer Focus
- Creativity, Flexibility
- Attention to Detail
- Deadline-Oriented
