Returning ISU wrestling NCAA qualifiers

The ISU wrestling team faced up against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Sunday, Feb. 23 at Hilton Coliseum. After an exciting first match for Earl Hall, at 125 pounds, Iowa State struggled to stay ahead, and eventually fell with a final score of 27-12 in favor of the Gophers.

  • Two-time NCAA qualifier at 141 pounds
  • 2013 Big 12 runner up at 141 pounds

Michael Moreno

  • Two-time All-American at 165 pounds
  • 2014 Big 12 runner up
  • Career record of 66-32

Tanner Weatherman

  • Two-time NCAA qualifier at 174 pounds
  • Went 2-2 at the 2013 and 2014 NCAA Championships, one match shy of becoming an All-American. 
  • Career record of 45-25.

Lelund Weatherspoon

  • 2014 NCAA qualifier at 184 pounds
  • Became the first freshman Big 12 Champion for ISU wrestling since heavyweight David Zabriskie in 2007.

Kyven Gadson

  • Two-time All-American and Big 12 champion at 197 pounds
  • 2014 NCAA quarterfinalist, finished in 4th place.
