Screen Scene Thursdays: The Interview

Interview

Sam Vander Forest

James Franco and Seth Rogen are back, and this time with a bit of a different agenda besides just smoking pot. The two star in their new film “The Interview,” written by Rogen himself along with Evan Goldberg and Dan Sterling, who teamed up with them for “Pineapple Express.”

“The Interview” puts the two actors’ characters right in the middle of the most fortified country, North Korea. Franco plays a TV show host named Dave Skylark, and Rogen plays his producer Aaron Rapoport, who have recently celebrated their 1000th episode together. Since they’re huge celebrities, King Jong-un, the leader of North Korea, wants to do an interview with the two. I know, crazy, right? The duo take on the interview in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists, and in the process are covertly hired by the CIA to kill the Kim Jong-un.

The trailer shows that the movie has cameos from Ander Holm (Workaholics) and Rob Lower (The West Wing), with Randall Park (MadTV) playing Kim Jong-un and Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls) playing Agent Lacy of the CIA.

I think we know that the duo will severely screw things up while in Pyongyang since that’s what they do best, but we’ll have to see if they can successfully assassinate one of the most hated leaders in the world–in the movie of course. You can check out the trailer below:
