ISU soccer goes out on top
October 31, 2014
Bert, Ernie and Big Bird from Sesame Street and Lloyd and Harry from Dumb and Dumber, among others, were in attendance for the Halloween edition of Iowa State’s final game of the season against TCU.
The six ISU seniors were recognized before the game and were also all included in the starting lineup, except for senior Alyssa Williamson, who is out with an injury.
The Cyclones recognizably took more shot attempts in the first half, which was one of ISU coach Tony Minatta’s goals earlier in the week. But despite that, first half ended in a scoreless tie.
TCU and Iowa State traded shot for shot throughout the whole game. Senior goalkeeper Andrea Swanson had three close saves to keep TCU off the scoreboard.
The score was 0-0 with about 30 seconds left until sophomore Adalie Schmidt scored the game-winning goal for the Cyclones.
The final score was 1-0 and Iowa State goes out on top.
