ISU men’s and women’s golf both find success from international players
October 26, 2014
The ISU men’s and women’s golf teams have both become top 50 programs. Much of that success has been a result of strong international recruiting. Here is a look at the impact Iowa State’s collegiate golfers have had:
– 10 of the 14 golfers between the ISU men’s and women’s golf teams hail from outside the United States.
– Six different countries are represented between the two teams. Those countries include Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, Thailand and the U.S.
– Most international universities do not offer collegiate golf, a leading reason for international golfers to choose to play in the U.S.
– An international golfer holds the ISU women’s golf record for low-18 hole round, low 18-hole season stroke average, low 54-hole total, among other honors.
– On the men’s side, an international golfer holds the record for low 18-hole round, low career stroke average, low single-season stroke average, among other honors.
