1. Texas (15-1, 7-1 Big 12): The Longhorns finally looked human this week, falling at home to Oklahoma in straight sets. Their ability to crush the entirety of its schedule up until that point, however, keeps them clinging to first place.

2a. Oklahoma (15-6, 6-2 Big 12): The Sooners made a big jump by taking down Texas on the road and now have a legitimate shot at dethroning the reigning champions.

2b. Kansas State (19-3, 6-2 Big 12): The Wildcats are still an elite team in the Big 12 and only get the “b” slot because Oklahoma was able to do what no other team has done this year.

4. Kansas (16-6, 4-4 Big 12): Kansas responded well to a five-set loss in Ames by sweeping Texas Tech. As the season grinds on, it’s looking more and more like the Jayhawks are a good team stuck in a strong conference.

5. Iowa State (11-8, 3-5 Big 12): The Cyclones are loaded with talent but have choked away two road matches in a row to remain winless away from home in the Big 12. Iowa State could make a run late though with 5-of-8 matches left coming at home.

6. West Virginia (13-9, 3-5 Big 12): West Virginia split its matches last week, falling to the superior Kansas State and defeating a lesser Baylor squad. Not much of note in the win-loss columns translates not much movement in the rankings.

7. Baylor (12-11, 2-6 Big 12): Baylor made a jump this week after showing its resiliency by coming back from an 0-2 deficit against Iowa State to win in five sets.

8. Texas Tech (15-5, 3-5 Big 12): Two losses, including one to Chinese team Zhejiang in an exhibition match, drops the Lady Raiders the rankings. An undefeated nonconference slate is looking like the product of weak scheduling more so than Tech dominance.

9. Texas Christian (12-10, 2-6 Big 12): The Horned Frogs are still hanging out at the bottom of the conference after failing to claim a set against Texas and Zhejiang in an exhibition match last week.

10. Oklahoma State (0-0, 0-0 Big 12): The equestrian team’s crushing loss at Baylor resulted in a four-spot drop in the latest NCEA rankings. In a sport with only 18 Division I teams, it’s a devastating blow.
