The ISU women’s basketball team (17-8, 6-8 Big 12) fell on the road to No. 6 Baylor (23-3, 13-1 Big 12) 89-51 on Feb. 19. The Cyclones have not defeated the Bears since 2010.

Iowa State started out in foul trouble early. Both senior forward Hallie Christofferson and freshman guard Seanna Johnson had a foul within the first few minutes.

The Cyclones had nine fouls at half but three starters — Christofferson along with junior guards Brynn Williamson and Nikki Moody — would all have two fouls each before the end of the half.

During the first period, Iowa State racked up 14 turnovers and was down to Baylor 38-21 at halftime.

The second half was not much better for Iowa State. Christofferson got the Cyclones’ their first points of the second half by making two free throws. But before Iowa State was able to score a basket, Christofferson tallied her third and fourth fouls.

Christofferson — Iowa State’s leading scorer — would end up with only 10 points against Baylor. Johnson led Iowa State in points with 12 but no other Cyclones would score in double-digits.

The nation’s leading scorer — Baylor guard Odyssey Sims — scored 24 points against the Cyclones. She also tallied nine assists and five rebounds.

The Cyclones will return home for their next game. Iowa State will face the Longhorns Feb. 22.
