Cyclones get swept in first series back after Winter Break
January 4, 2014
The Cyclone Hockey team left Chicago with two loses under its belt, as they fell to Robert Morris 4-1 on Saturday.
After Friday’s 4-2 loss to the No. 2 Eagles (20-3-1, 11-0-3 CSCHL), the No. 7 Cyclones (23-7-2, 8-4-0 CSCHL) went into Saturday’s game looking to split the series, but instead finished the first series after Winter Break on a sour note.
Forward Nate Percy put the Cyclones up early in the first period in Saturday’s game with a goal on a five-on-three power play. A goal by forward Tony Domico tied the game for the Eagles late in the period.
The second period was all Robert Morris, as the Eagles added three more goals on the Cyclones, making it 4-1 heading into the third period.
The Eagles weren’t able to add to their lead in the third, but the Cyclones couldn’t put the puck in the net either. The Cyclones are now 1-3 against the Eagles this season.
Goalie Scott Ismond, who started instead of usual starting goalie Matt Cooper, wet 22 for 26 behind the net.
The Cyclone Hockey team will be at home next weekend to face conference rival Indiana on Friday and Saturday.
