Iowa State places third at NCAA Regional, Shealy advances

The ISU gymnastics team placed third in its NCAA Regional meet with a score of 195.400 on Saturday, April 6, 2013, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

No. 3 Alabama and No. 15 Utah placed first and second and advanced to the NCAA Championships. 

Iowa State (8-14, 0-2 Big 12) began its night on the balance beam, where it scored 48.55 on its first rotation. 

On floor exercise, Iowa State scored 49.075. Juniors Henrietta Green and Milan Ivory both scored 9.850 on the event.

For its third rotation, Iowa State performed on vault, scoring 48.875 on the event. The Cyclones competed on the uneven bars for their final rotation, scoring 48.900.

Junior Michelle Shealy placed fifth in the all-around competition with a score of 39.05. She will advance to compete in the all-around competition at nationals.
