Saina wins individual national title, Cyclones finish 11th

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Betsy Saina won the individual NCAA national title at women’s cross-country nationals on Saturday, as Iowa State finished in 11th place overall.

Saina’s time of 19:27.9 was the fastest time by any runner to race at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. Saina became the first woman Cyclone to win an individual title and the third Cyclone ever to do so.

Teammate Meaghan Nelson clocked in at 20:01.7 for a 16th-place finish. Both Saina and Nelson were named All-Americans for their performances.
