The ISU men’s golf team split their matches in Saturday’s Big Four Challenge in Phoenix.

Only two rounds were played in the Big Four Challenge with other schools that were playing included: Iowa, Northern Iowa and Drake. The winners from the first round went on to play in the second championship round.

In the first round of the tournament, the Cyclones beat Northern Iowa with a score of 4-2. Wins were recorded by freshman Scott Fernandez, redshirt freshman Blake Waller, junior Borja Virto and senior Nate McCoy.

The championship round featured Iowa and Iowa State playing each other for the first time this year, despite wins from freshman Sam Daley, Virto and McCoy, the Hawkeyes still won the match with a 3-3 score.

Iowa was named the tournament winner based off a tie breaker.
